Axial Flux Stators with Surface Grinding
Axial Flux Stators flatness is critical for stator assembly and have accurate air gap between rotors; so how to get high tolerances on flatness for stators is critical;
Normally if we do axial flux stators rolling directly with our machine, due to the sheet lamination alignment is unable to reach perfect result; so this causes some deviation on stator height and also flatness; we normally can do 0.2mm after manual correction; so grinding can be applied for stators to get best flatness and parallelism;
1. Stator Bonding process is required to lower delaminaton ratio, otherwise, it is very easy to get serious delamination during grinding process;
2. Do surface grinding, it must be grind gradually with about 0.02mm otherwise it get serious delamination;
3. do not grinding one face one time, it should do 0.02mm and rever to back side plate;
4. grinding will cause short between laminations and get higher losses; so some designers do not like grinding especially for slots side plate;
